About

Independent commerce engineering, led by the people who write the code.

KrisaLab is a two-principal engineering practice. We don’t employ account managers, junior developers, or sales intermediaries. Over the past cycles, we have operated together as the core architecture, growth, and automation unit behind a high-volume European e-commerce group (€12M+ combined ARR across two flagship storefronts).

How we think about the work.

Our approach starts with identifying the commercial or operational constraint—not with proposing a rewrite or another third-party subscription. We assess existing systems, build within or around platform limits, and measure outcomes where reliable data is available.

Maksym Shevchuk

Founder · Principal Commerce Architect & Growth Engineer

  • COMMERCE ARCHITECTURE
  • CHECKOUT & CRO
  • SERVER-SIDE TELEMETRY
  • ADTECH & OPS AUTOMATION

Designs and builds the technical and commercial systems that protect margin and scale revenue in high-volume e-commerce. Maksym’s work sits directly at the intersection of unit economics, backend engineering, and behavioral conversion optimization—from architecting headless Shopify-to-Saleor migration toolkits and custom SMTP infrastructures to rebuilding live headless data layers and checkout extensions.

Prior to co-leading commerce engineering across two €6M+ ARR European storefronts, he managed SKU-level P&L and turnaround engineering across European marketplaces and D2C portfolios, scaling GMV 3x–4x under strict <10% tACoS constraints. He leads system architecture, R&D prototyping, tracking & attribution diagnostics, and commercial automation at KrisaLab.

Selected Systems Architected

  • Platform & Cost Architecture: Architected the Shopify-to-Saleor migration toolkit for headless Hydrogen storefronts and replaced third-party lifecycle email platforms with Shopify Flow + self-hosted SMTP infrastructure.
  • Checkout, Cart & Merchandising CRO: Engineered GDPR-compliant abandoned checkout recovery extensions, de-cascaded cart/upsell API flows, and built algorithmic collection-merchandising engines combining sales velocity with stock freshness.
  • Telemetry, Attribution & Paid Media Automation: Rebuilt headless DataLayer/Elevar flows, created Slack-integrated attribution discrepancy dashboards (accounting for adblock and consent loss), and built Google Ads keyword/creative-fatigue engines alongside OSINT competitor price monitors.
  • Internal & Supplier Automation: Built PDF-to-Shopify supplier inventory sync pipelines, LLM-assisted multilingual support tools, and automated SOP retrieval workflows.

Mark Horbaichuk

Co-Founder · Principal Full-Stack & Platform Engineer

  • SHOPIFY PLUS APPS
  • HEADLESS & HYDROGEN
  • EVENT-DRIVEN BACKENDS
  • AWS & INFRASTRUCTURE

Full-stack platform engineer specializing in custom Shopify Plus applications, headless storefronts (Hydrogen / Remix / Next.js), and resilient event-driven backends. Mark focuses on turning complex, error-prone merchant operations and rigid codebases into clean, maintainable, and secure production software.

An AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Serverless Developer with deep experience in high-concurrency systems, PostgreSQL architecture, and third-party API integrations, he leads application hardening, multi-market tooling, audit pipelines, and production infrastructure at KrisaLab—ensuring every delivered system runs fast and eliminates unnecessary vendor lock-in.

Selected Systems Engineered

  • Event-Driven Audit & Change Attribution: Co-engineered an external Shopify activity logging pipeline using Admin Apps, webhooks, Google Pub/Sub, background workers, and persistent storage to trace catalog and configuration changes back to specific users or apps.
  • Headless Refactoring & Multi-Market Tooling: Refactored hardcoded Hydrogen storefronts into merchant-controlled Metaobject architectures and built centralized multi-market bulk repricing tools across Shopify Markets.
  • Database & Infrastructure Reliability: Led PostgreSQL schema migrations, serverless and container deployments, payment/fiscal gateway integrations, and system performance optimization across high-traffic commerce environments.

Terms

How we work at a glance

Standard terms are public. Changes are possible in an individual scope or agreement.

  • Small projects are usually paid 50% / 50%, with a guideline of up to two weeks.
  • Large projects are usually paid 40% / 30% / 30% against agreed stages.
  • Fixes are free for three months when the cause is in the part of the system we developed.
  • Priority support is a separate service and is not included in a regular project.
  • Working window: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 Europe/Berlin (CET in winter, CEST in summer).
  • The price relates to the described scope and is confirmed individually, up or down.
